WP8: Integrating Ecological, Carbon and Water Footprint: Defining the "Footprint Family" and its application in tracking human pressure on the planet
This report for Work Package 8 will serve researchers of all Work Packages (WP) to more
accurately represent the linkages and differences among the indicators, as well as final
users of the outcomes of OPEN:EU project to understand when to use each single
indicator, and how to jointly use the Footprint Family to set targets and understand trade
offs.
It is believed that such background document will also be of high interest to the many researchers and users of the Footprint indicators as it helps clarify most of the

misconceptions and misunderstanding around these three indicators, which are similar in name but different in scope and accounting procedure.
